How to study Class 10 English with Vidya
Class 10 English in Bihar Board is a 100-mark paper. Half the marks come from objective questions and half from written answers. Most students lose marks not because English is hard, but because they skip the textbook and try to memorise guide-book answers. The best plan is simple: read each lesson once in your own language, then once in English, and then practise.
1.Understand the story first
Read the Hindi summary of a chapter to know who the characters are and what happens. When you know the story, English sentences become much easier to follow.
2.Read the lesson in English
Now read the English summary and the textbook lesson. Mark 5–6 new words and write their meaning in your notebook.
3.Write the exercise answers
Short answers carry 2 marks and long answers 5 marks. Write them yourself in 3–4 lines (short) or 8–10 lines (long), then compare with our answers.
4.Practise MCQs every day
You must attempt 50 out of 100 objective questions. Ten MCQs a day from different chapters builds speed and confidence for the OMR sheet.
5.Give one full mock test a week
Sit for 3 hours 15 minutes without breaks. This trains your time management, which is the biggest secret of scoring well.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Writing very long answers for 2-mark questions and running out of time.
- Ignoring poetry — poem questions are short and easy marks.
- Leaving grammar and letter writing for the last week.
